Systems-Inspired Leadership

The Lone Ranger is a fun archetype for mystery and adventure. But it isn’t much of an archetype for effective leaders in this highly-connected, and people-oriented world.

Time and again I help people identify and clarify the system they are working and operating within, BEFORE we coach on their “goals”.

After all, no-one really cares what you want. As a leader, it is what is needed to emerge through you that informs our coaching work.

And if you are thinking that you’re not a leader… stop right there! If you are in a group of any kind be it family, community, organisation, nation, then your connection to the whole starts with your awareness and connection to the System.

I get so nerdy about this I revisited one of my favourite books, HR: Disrupted, and share some of my insights from the Leadership Re-Imagined Program I am on, with Systems-Inspired Leadership training from Marita Fridjhon.

Here some key snippets of this week’s short and sweet podcast episode:

  • Understanding Strengths at Different Levels:
By examining my strengths at three levels—me, we, and they— you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the strengths within your immediate and broader communities.
  • Taking Charge of Your Career:
It’s empowering to adopt the mindset of steering your own course, whether self-employed, a freelancer, or an employee. Recognizing your value as a consumer within the system adds a new dimension to approaching your professional journey.
  • Embracing Human Vulnerability and Empathy:
Prioritizing empathy, vulnerability, and achievable standards fosters a healthier mindset within the system, not only for yourself but also for my team and the larger community.

I encourage you to listen to the full episode for a deeper dive into systems-inspired leadership and the impact it can have on personal and professional growth.

If you are launching yourself or your team into new challenges for this year, I’m looking to work with great people who are interested in making positive changes for themselves or their teams. These are 1 with 1 sessions with a difference!
