Mission-Led Content from a Young Age? Meet Author Gracie Barry and her Entrepreneur Mum Lisa

Ever struggled to describe anxiety? Let 10-year old Gracie Barry help you! One day she had the fully-formed idea that her anxiety was in fact a purple, scruffy, slimy, cold, grumpy monster who climbed up and down her spine into her head, ruining perfectly good days. Join me to hear Gracie talk us through how Jeff became a real book, and how he’s now helping many people find words that help them. With us was her Mission-Led content entrepreneur mum, Lisa. These sure are some of the most atypical leaders I’ve ever had on my podcast!
First, Meet Gracie and Jeff, Her Slime Ball Anxiety Monster
“Jeff” – This is Gracie’s second ever podcast interview! She shares us the story of Jeff, her personal metaphor for anxiety. Discover how her journey with Jeff inspired a book that’s touching hearts and minds. Click here for the episode.
Then, Meet Lisa – Mission-Led Content (aka Telling Stories That Make A Difference)
Meet Lisa Barry, one of my guides and mentors for running a heart-led, mission-led, business. You may not be writing content for anything, but all of us live inside of stories we tell ourselves all the time. Indeed, my whole business and life is around helping people understand the “story” they created for themselves, helping them untangle it from the truths (some existential spoilers hidden right there) and then move forward.
Lisa is no different, except she does this with business owners and solo-preneurs. She has developed a series of the simplest questions that lead to the most profound answers. Here’s one of my favourites: “What’s the next right step for me?”
Here are some highlights from the episode:
- The Best Question: Lisa has nailed the art of narrowing our focus to the “next right step” to overcoming challenges and beating overwhelm.
- The Power of Stories: Stories win our hearts. Sometimes our hearts can be very full – Lisa is a master at clarity!
- Balancing Act: Mental health and leadership go hand in hand. Same for solo-preneurs.
- Mission-Led Content Mastery: Lisa shares her insights on mission-led content and I open up about the ways in which she has helped me get where I am now – from fear to action.
